Jorg Prewmeister 1437, detail from the Mendeslcher Hausbücher. Amb. 317.2° Folio 60 recto (Mendel I)

Hi. I’m Rune. These pages document my forays in homebrewing and beer history.

I enjoy experimenting with simple back-to-basics brewing techniques – more or less adhering to the reinheitsgebot. That said: I experiment.

The title of this page – Braxatorium – is medieval latin for brew kettle. Apparently it can be used as a term for an entire brewery too. You come across it quite a lot in medieval and early modern sources.

Feel free to follow me on instagram – I use #braxatorium whenever its about beer
